RICHLAND, Wash. – Washington State University Tri-Cities will bring together past, current and future Cougs as part of the university’s inaugural Crimson Fest on Saturday, April 9.
“We wanted to create an annual event that would celebrate and bring together WSU Cougs of all ages and majors and their friends and families,” said Ken Fincher, WSU Tri-Cities assistant vice chancellor of advancement and community engagement. “Crimson Fest will feature fun for people of all ages. It’s a free event for the whole WSU community.”
The event, which is sponsored by Gesa Credit Union, begins with the WSU Tri-Cities’ annual Fund the Future 5K Run at 9 a.m. on the paved path along Urban Greenbelt Trail – behind WSU Tri-Cities along the Columbia River. The run is the only activity requiring a fee:
• General public: $20 pre-registered, $25 day of race
• WSU Tri-Cities students and employees: $10 pre-registered, $20 day of race
• Children ages 6-12: $10
• Children 5 and younger: free and strollers are welcome

Other activities throughout the day include a tour of the campus, a prospective student open house, laser tag, indoor racing, outdoor yoga, volleyball, a WSU Tri-Cities alumni gathering and more.
Attendees will be able to cheer on the WSU Tri-Cities club rugby and soccer games beginning at 1 p.m. on the Crimson and Hanford High School soccer fields, respectively. Food trucks will be on campus throughout the day for those who want to purchase food. The band Night Argent will perform beginning at 5:45 p.m. on the Rotary Stage.
The day ends with a showing of the movie “Daddy’s Home” either in the East Auditorium or outside the West Atrium, depending on weather.
