RICHLAND, Wash. – Community members are invited to help the Washington State University Tri-Cities environmental club clean up Bateman Island 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, March 26.
Volunteers will pick up trash and are encouraged to bring gloves, snacks and refillable water bottles. Bags and buckets will be provided by the city of Richland.
Volunteers should meet at the Columbia Park Trail at Wye Park, 1600 Columbia Park Trail, Richland.
Elinor Lake, club president, said the event is an opportunity to beautify a park that hundreds of people enjoy each year.
“We held our first cleanup day for Bateman Island last November and it was really successful,” she said. “More than 60 people and 10 local organizations helped us remove trash ranging from plastic bottles to larger items such as a railroad ties and a miniature stove.”
