March 21: Business college hosts macroeconomics leader

John-Campbell-webPULLMAN, Wash. – Regulation of consumer participation in the financial markets, including portfolio choice and investments that provide a fixed return, will be discussed in a free, public lecture 4:15-5:30 p.m. Monday, March 21, in the CUB auditorium at Washington State University.

John Y. Campbell will present “Restoring Rational Choice: The Challenge of Consumer Financial Regulation.” He will share insights from his expertise in finance and macroeconomics, including fixed-income securities, equity value and portfolio choice. He is the Morton L. and Carole S. Olshan Professor of Economics at Harvard University.

Sponsored by the WSU Carson College of Business, the annual Gary P. Brinson Distinguished Lecture on finance brings in a leading expert in the field of finance and economics to network with students and present a public lecture.

Campbell is a founding partner of Arrowstreet Capital, LP, a Boston-based quantitative asset management firm, and has published more than 80 articles. His books include “The Econometrics of Financial Markets” (1997); “Strategic Asset Allocation: Portfolio Choice for Long-Term Investors” (2002), and “The Squam Lake Report: Fixing the Financial System” (2010).
