PULLMAN, Wash. – Topics in the common reading book for this year, “Just Mercy,” will be discussed in two upcoming lectures at Washington State University.
“Reforming the criminal justice system: national and local efforts,” will be addressed by Jacqueline van Wormer, assistant professor in criminal justice at WSU Spokane, at 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 7, in Todd 216. She does research, consults and advocates on juvenile justice, drug courts, alternative sentencing and health-based treatment for those incarcerated due to mental-health and substance-abuse issues.
“Juries and Criminal Justice,” will be presented by Dan LeBeau, senior deputy prosecutor for Whitman County, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, in Todd 216. He will talk about jury selection and the role of jury members.
