March 3-24: Free farm talks on both sides of state

farmEVERETT, Wash. – Four free farm talks addressing the challenges facing small farms will be held 6-9 p.m. Thursdays, March 3-24, at the Gray Wolf Building, 2000 Tower St., Everett, and at Washington State University Spokane County Extension, 222 N. Havana, Spokane, Wash.

March 3: In “Farming is a Risky Business,” a panel will discuss legal, financial, employment management and food safety issues that confront farmers. Local farmers also will bring their “Been there, done that!” perspective to the conversation.

March 10: “Managing Your Water Resources” will focus on water quality, quantity and rights.

March 17: “Selling What You Grow” will address gathering information about customers to make marketing and promotional efforts more strategic and effective.

March 24: “No-Fear Farm Financial Management” will cover financial statements, benchmark ratios, investment analysis, budgeting and keeping the bottom line in the black.

Course sponsors include Snohomish Conservation District, Moss Adams LLC, Western Extension Risk Management Education, USDA RMA and Northwest Farm Credit Services.
