PULLMAN, Wash. – Women will learn how to use their communication style to manage, motivate and influence people at the annual Women in Agriculture Conference to be offered Saturday, March 19, simultaneously in 31 locations throughout Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Montana and Alaska.
The conference is designed for farm women as well as new and aspiring farmers. Supporting spouses, students, interns and people who own agriculture-related businesses are also welcome.
The videoconference format makes headline speakers available at all locations while tailoring in-person presentations and content to each region.
“Last year, nearly 650 women attended,” said Margaret Viebrock, conference chair and Washington State University Douglas County extension director. “Many attendees reported it is the best conference for women producers because it presents practical information they can use right away.”
Registration costs $25 through March 5 and $30 after. This includes a light breakfast, lunch and conference materials. Find locations, get details and register at http://www.womeninag.wsu.edu.
Knowledgeable speakers, inspiring stories, practical skills and networking with other producers will highlight “Power Up Your Communication, Power Up Your Farm.”
“In addition to improving communications, this conference will help women farmers use their personality traits to change as the situation changes,” Viebrock said.
Speakers will include Wendy Knopp and Michael Stolp with Northwest Farm Credit Services and
Tangent, Ore., farmer Shelly Boshart Davis.
