PULLMAN, Wash. – Differing views about the ethics of using fetal tissue in scientific research will be presented at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, in CUE 203 at Washington State University.
The topic is especially timely in light of recent controversies surrounding Planned Parenthood and donations of fetal tissue for research, said Cornell Clayton, director of WSU’s Thomas S. Foley Institute for Public Policy and Public Service, which is hosting the discussion.
Panelists will include Leslie Francis, professor of philosophy and law at the University of Utah; Terry Hassold, professor in the School of Molecular Biosciences at WSU; and Christopher Tollefsen, professor of philosophy at the University of South Carolina.
Audience members will be able to ask questions and join the discussion as the panelists consider the nature of research conducted with fetal tissue, ethics and current law.
