Feb. 2: War on drugs, economics, politics discussed

drug-warsPULLMAN, Wash. – The “war on drugs” – how it has evolved and why it continues when it has not seemed to succeed – will be discussed at noon Tuesday, Feb. 2, in Bryan Hall 308 as part of the Foley Institute’s coffee & politics series. Pizza and pop will be served.

Suzanna Reiss, University of Hawaii, will talk about “Drug Wars and Warriors.” Her most recent book is “We Sell Drugs: The Alchemy of U.S. Empire.”

Reiss will also talk about “Legalizing Drugs: State Power and the Creation of Mind-Altering Markets,” at 7 p.m. the same day in the CUB ballroom. She will discuss how drug control became a major weapon in asserting control of domestic and international affairs.
