Jan. 20: Mali leader desires to revive 19th century caliphate

peter-chilsonPULLMAN, Wash. – “Jihad in Mali: The Holy War of Amadou Koufa” will be the topic of the Foley Institute’s Coffee & Politics series presentation at noon Wednesday, Jan. 20, in Bryan 308.

For decades, civil war and religious conflict have decimated African countries. Washington State University professor Peter Chilson will discuss a new jihadist leader in Mali whose goals differ from typical terrorist organizations and who desires to revive the 19th century caliphate.
