Starting Jan. 28: Seminars prepare for business plan contest

PULLMAN, Wash. – Preparation for the 15th Annual Business Plan Competition April 22-23 will include weekly “resource nights” starting this month, hosted by the Washington State University Carson College of Business Center for Entrepreneurial Studies.

The competition allows student entrepreneurs or aspiring business owners to practice business in a real-world setting, showcase their business acumen and network with industry professionals.

During resource nights, industry experts come to campus to offer guidance on developing strong business plans and presentations prior to the competition. Resource nights are open to the public 6-8 p.m. Thursdays in the Marriott Hospitality Teaching Center in Todd Addition 268. Light refreshments will be served by the School of Hospitality Business Management.

Jan. 28: Keys to Success, Joelle Kaufman, head of marketing and partnerships, Bloomreach
Feb. 4: Building a Winning Team, Dan Castles, founder and chief executive officer, Telestream
Feb. 11: Capital Ideas, Dale Miller, senior vice president and corporate client group director, Pacific Wealth Management Group at Morgan Stanley, and Paul Judge, managing director, Vandal Venture Fund
Feb. 18: Marketing, Jason Hol, brand and business development executive, KELLYBRADY Advertising, Inc.
Feb. 25: Legal Issues, Dave Divine and Dan Wadkins, attorneys, Lee & Hayes PLLC
March 3: Art of the Pitch, Tom Simpson, president, Spokane Angel Alliance, and Andy Barrett, executive director of Berg Companies – co-founders of Toolbox
