SPOKANE, Wash. – Job growth, parks and plazas, “smart” stormwater systems and alternative transportation are some of the ideas for improving Spokane’s University District and nearby neighborhoods that will be presented to the public at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at the Spokane Public Library, 906 W. Main St.
Students from the Washington State University School of Design and Construction will display posters and give presentations on the final designs from their semester project to research and solve complex problems regarding development of the University District and surrounding areas.
Ideas include connecting the Ben Burr Trail to the district, introducing shared driverless electric cars, decentralizing power grids – important in reducing impacts from wind and ice storms – and identifying technologies to grow jobs.
