Student earns national advertising honor

Asia-AdonaWASHINGTON – Asia Adona, a senior with The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University, is one of 50 students chosen by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) for its Most Promising Multicultural Students Program (MPMS).

She is the seventh winner from the college since 2005. She is set to graduate from Murrow in December with a bachelor’s degree in strategic communication with a focus in advertising and minor in Spanish.

“Asia is testimony to the potential of Murrow College advertising majors entering today’s industry,” said Dan Petek, WSU instructor and AAF education board member. “MPMS will open an even greater door of opportunity for her professional career.”

Adona will attend the MPMS four-day industry immersion program of professional development workshops, agency visits and a recruiter’s expo. Leading agencies and companies have used MPMS as a recruitment tool; in 2015, 55 percent of participants were offered a full-time position or internship during or soon after the program.
