PULLMAN, Wash. – Advancing opportunity and equity in education for indigenous students will be discussed by scholar Teresa L. McCarty at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, in Cleveland Hall 27B, at Washington State University. Light refreshments will be provided.

The College of Education’s Clearinghouse on Native Teaching and Learning will host the video viewing of the American Educational Research Association’s 12th Annual Brown Lecture, “Indigenous Pathways Toward Justice.”

The clearinghouse works “with others on campus to better advocate for ‘the promise of brown,’ especially as related to indigenous education initiatives,” said director Francene Watson. “Our hope in creating a shared venue space is to build community across campus, bringing together people whose work intersects education, indigenous communities and social justice.”
