Deadline Nov. 20 for MLK Distinguished Service Awards

MLK-logoPULLMAN, Wash. – The deadline is Friday, Nov. 20, to submit nominations for Washington State University’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Distinguished Service Awards.

“We all know of people who do great things to serve others, both on and off campus,” said Marc Robinson, director of WSU’s Culture and Heritage Houses and lead organizer for the annual MLK Celebration. “Too often those people don’t get the recognition they deserve; this award provides an excellent opportunity to change that.”

To make a nomination, visit http://mlk.wsu.edu and click on the Distinguished Service Award link.

Winners will be recognized during the WSU Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Celebration at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, in the CUB ballroom. This event will feature hip-hop artist and community activist Jasiri X.

Winners will be chosen based upon their service in one or all of the following areas: altruism and community service, advancement of diversity, education and inclusion.

Awards will be given in five categories: a WSU faculty member, a WSU staff member, an enrolled WSU student, a group or organization affiliated with WSU, and an individual or group from the surrounding community.
