Engineering student places second in international competition

PawanAgarwalPULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University’s Pawan Agarwal recently received a second place award for his student paper from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

The paper was recognized among more than 450 submitted during the IEEE International Microwave Symposium, an annual showcase of microwave theory and practice

Agarwal, an electrical engineering doctoral student in the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture, is researching radio frequency and mixed signal circuit design. His paper was titled “25.3 GHz, 4.1 mW VCO with 34.8% Tuning Range using a Switched Substrate-Shield Inductor.”

He is advised by Deuk Heo, professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and part of Heo’s ARMAG group (https://armag.eecs.wsu.edu/).
