PULLMAN, Wash. – James Meredith was the first black student to integrate the University of Mississippi in 1962 and, in 1966, was shot while leading the Mississippi March Against Fear. He will speak at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, in the CUB auditorium at Washington State University.
A writer, speaker and politician, he will discuss his experiences fighting for equal rights and his view of the struggle today.
The event is presented by the WSU Foley Institute with support from the President’s Office, Associated Students of WSU and School of Politics, Philosophy and Public Affairs.
