KleistRICHLAND, Wash. – Danielle Kleist, Washington State University Tri-Cities’ director of student life, will receive the NASPA 2015 Region V Mid-Level Student Affairs Professional Award at the group’s conference Nov. 9.

The award is presented to a student affairs professional with a minimum of five years’ experience. It recognizes:

• outstanding commitment to the profession;
• contributions to programs that address the needs of students;
• experience creating campus environments that promote student learning and personal development.

During Kleist’s tenure, WSU Tri-Cities has added a student fitness facility, increased student organizations including club sports and implemented an incoming-student experience to assist in retention and success.

“My passion is working with students,” she said. “We have a great team at Washington State University Tri-Cities and a committed student body. I’m looking forward to the many opportunities in the future for our students to have a true collegiate experience and be actively engaged in service learning and leadership development.”

NASPA is the leading association for the advancement, health and sustainability of the student affairs profession. Kleist is the only person to receive the award in Region V, which covers universities in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, Alberta and British Columbia.
