ChaudhryPULLMAN, Wash. – “Global Peace and Personal Responsibility” will be presented by Asif Chaudhry, Washington State University vice president for international programs, at 5:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, in the CUB Auditorium as part of International Education Week on the Pullman campus.

The date marks the United Nations International Day of Peace worldwide.

Chaudhry will discuss topics of global importance and connect them to our responsibility as Cougars across the world. He recently retired from the U.S. Senior Foreign Service where he held numerous leadership positions. He received the WSU Alumni Achievement Award for service to the global society and the university.

He received a Ph.D. in agricultural economics from WSU and a master’s degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. He completed undergraduate work at the University of Punjab in Pakistan. He speaks Russian, Arabic, Polish, Urdu and Punjabi. He received a Presidential Meritorious Service Award for his contributions in the conduct of U.S. foreign policy.
