Sept. 15, 17: Two concerts open faculty artist series this week

fac-art-series-220PULLMAN, Wash. – Jazz quartet and oboe/bassoon concerts will kick off the season for the Washington State University Faculty Artist Series two nights this week. Proceeds benefit the School of Music Scholarship Fund.

The Jarvis-Hagelganz Quartet will play contemporary jazz at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, in Kimbrough Hall. Jazz standards like Victor Young’s “My Foolish Heart” will be joined by music of McCoy Tyner, Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter and Horace Silver.

The quartet features Dave Hagelganz on tenor saxophone, Brian Ward on piano, John Petrie on bass and Dave Jarvis on drums.

“Double Trouble: Music for Oboe and Bassoon,” featuring Keri E. McCarthy, oboe; Ryan M. Hare, bassoon and Jeffrey Savage, piano, will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, in Bryan Hall.

Tickets, on sale in the building lobbies 30 minutes before the performances, cost $10 general admission, $5 senior citizens and non-WSU students, and free for WSU students with ID.
