Sept. 10: New business dean to talk at Power Breakfast

Chip-HunterSEATTLE – Chip Hunter, newly appointed business dean at Washington State University, will present “The Carson College of Business at WSU: Linking Washington State with the World,” as the keynote speaker at the annual Power Breakfast networking event sponsored by the college.

The breakfast will be 7:30-9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, 721 Pine St., Seattle. Register for $40 online at http://business.wsu.edu/powerbreakfast/, until midnight Sunday, Sept. 6.

The breakfast is designed to inform, inspire and engage Seattle-area business leaders about contemporary business issues.

Hunter is a scholar of management and was the senior associate dean and the Pyle-Bascom Professor of Leadership at the Wisconsin School of Business for the past three years at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For two of those years, he also led the school’s nationally ranked full-time MBA program.

Prior to joining the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2002, he spent eight years on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania; he won teaching awards in both appointments. In recognition of his research and leadership, he was recently elected vice-president /president-elect of the Industry Studies Association.

He earned his doctoral degree in industrial relations and human resource management from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He holds a master’s degree from Oxford University in the United Kingdom and earned his bachelor’s degree at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Hunter was raised on the Palouse, graduating from high school in nearby Moscow, Idaho.
