Led by communications trainer Nancy Baron of COMPASS and a team of environmental journalists, the training is sponsored by the Center for Environmental Research Education and Outreach at Washington State University. COMPASS is a nonprofit seeking to help scientists engage effectively in the public discourse about the environment.
Training will focus on framing and crafting messages for reporters, policymakers and the public, as well as navigating different kinds of interviews. Participants will engage in hands-on activities and peer feedback. They will receive individual coaching from workshop leaders to develop strategies for improving their communication skills.
