Aug. 1, 9: Soccer events support world health partnership

Sounders-water-carry-logoSEATTLE – A world health partnership that includes Washington State University will get support from the Seattle Sounders professional soccer team during its Aug. 1 match and Aug. 9 inaugural Rave Green Run.

Those buying tickets to the 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, game against Vancouver can use the code “WGHA2015” to buy tickets for $21, and a portion of the proceeds will support the “Water, Wealth and Health” partnership. Buy tickets here.

Before kickoff, at 5 p.m. in Occidental Park at Pioneer Square, participants can learn what it takes for families in Tanzania to collect clean water. The March to the Match will include an interactive water carry (bring your own water bottle) from the park to the stadium. Learn more here.

The inaugural Sounders Football Club Rave Green Run at 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at Juanita Beach Park in Kirkland, Wash., will include a 9K run, 5K run/walk and 1K kids’ dash. Registration costs $15-$45 and proceeds benefit the “Water, Wealth and Health” partnership. Register at http://ravegreenrun.com/.

The partnership is comprised of five Washington-based organizations – Washington State University Paul G. Allen School for Global Animal Health, Washington Global Health AlliancePATHUniversity of Washington and World Vision. They aim to improve the health and livelihoods of thousands of women and girls and their families in rural Tanzania through promoting clean water, hygiene and other initiatives.
