Canine sports medicine expert to give public lecture July 1

PULLMAN, Wash.— Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine will host a July 1 public lecture by M. Christine Zink, veterinary pathologist and renowned expert in canine sports medicine and rehabilitation.

Dr. Zink’s presentation, entitled, “Second Sight – Predicting Canine Lameness Before it Happens,” will be given at 5:30 p.m. in room 1002 of the Animal Disease Biotechnology Facility attached to the east side of Bustad Hall.

A professor and director of the Department of Molecular and Comparative Pathobiology at Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore, Md. Dr. Zink is double board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists and the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Her research focuses primarily on HIV and how it causes the individual disease processes collectively known as AIDS. She is also involved in canine stem cell research.

Dr. Zink actively consults and designs individualized rehabilitation and conditioning programs for canine athletes and is the award-winning author of several titles including: Peak Performance: Coaching the Canine Athlete.
