By Maegan Murray, WSU Tri-Cities

mooyoung-webRICHLAND, Wash. – Washington State University Tri-Cities will bring together the expertise of more than 70 nonprofit professionals, stakeholders and community leaders to achieve transformational change locally when it hosts the first Nonprofit Summit 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, June 11, in Consolidated Information Center 120.

Organizations can register for the summit until the end of the business day Wednesday by contacting Brandie Saint Claire at 509-372-7264 or brandie.saintclaire@tricity.wsu.edu.

Participants will explore collaborative partnership opportunities with WSU Tri-Cities and other organizations. They will consider new strategies to solve key issues related to the nonprofit sector and learn more about Cougs in the Community, a service-based learning program for students and community members on the WSU Tri-Cities campus.

Summit discussion will be facilitated by WSU Tri-Cities Chancellor H. Keith Moo-Young, who said the goal is to build relationships with the organizations while developing additional volunteer opportunities for students and community members through Cougs in the Community.

“It’s a win-win for everybody,” he said. “We want to continue building partnerships so students have access to those real-world practical experiences, while also providing the manpower needed to support these important organizations that provide so much back to the community.”
