WSU Regents to meet this week at WSU Tri-Cities

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Board of Regents of Washington State University will hold a regularly scheduled meeting March 26-27, at the WSU Tri Cities Campus, Consolidated Information Center, Room 212-214, to consider action items, including the appointment of a treasurer to the Board of Regents, the establishment of a technology fee for Pullman undergraduate students, and the designation of a recipient for the Regent’s Distinguished Alumni Award.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. March 26 with a meeting of the Regents’ Executive Committee, to be followed by consecutive meetings of the Regents’ Finance & Audit, Academic and Student Affairs, and External Affairs committees. Each committee session will convene immediately following the completion of the previous session. All four sessions are scheduled to conclude prior to 4:15 p.m.

The Regents will re-convene at the same location at 8 a.m. on March 27 to initially hear reports, including reports from the WSU Foundation, the WSU Faculty Senate, Associated Students of WSU Tri-Cities, Graduate and Professional Student Association, WSU Administrative Professional Advisory Council, and WSU Alumni Association.

The Regents are expected to take action on recommendations including:

  • A recommendation by the Regent’s Distinguished Alumnus/a Award Committee to select a recipient for the 2015 Regent’s Distinguished Alumnus/a from a list of two proposed finalists.
  • A recommendation by WSU President Elson S. Floyd to appoint Joan King, WSU associate vice president and chief university budget officer, to the position of Treasurer of the Board of Regents effective May 16, 2015.
  • A recommendation to establish a $20 per semester undergraduate student technology fee on the Pullman campus beginning in the fall of 2015.
