WSU Health and Wellness Services re-accredited

PULLMAN Wash. – Health and Wellness Services (HWS) at Washington State University earned accreditation for another three-year term from the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). HWS is one of only two accredited campus health services in Washington.

“Since our last accreditation, we have steadily seen an increase in patient visits, and we have been adapting and expanding to meet patient needs. We have remodeled to add patient rooms, added additional mental health services, and significantly expanded our health promotion efforts,” said Bruce Wright, executive director of HWS.

“We were dedicated to maintaining and improving the quality of our services as we expanded, and I think that shows in our accreditation ratings. We received high ratings across all categories reviewed and the highest possible ratings for patient rights, quality of care, facility, health education and promotion, and behavioral health services,” Wright said.

The AAHC is a private, non-profit organization which accredits more than 5,000 organizations nationwide. Health care organizations seeking accreditation by the AAAHC undergo an extensive self-assessment and onsite survey by AAAHC expert surveyors – physicians, nurses, and administrators who are actively involved in ambulatory health care.

HWS provides medical services and programs to more than 12,000 students annually, and has been accredited through the AAAHC since 1996.
