WSU Board of Regents to meet in Spokane this week

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Board of Regents of Washington State University will hold a regularly scheduled meeting Dec. 11 and 12 at the Washington State University Health Sciences Spokane, College of Nursing Building, Room 205 to consider action items, including approvals of schematic designs for the Spokane Teaching Health Center and the renovation of the Washington Building on the Pullman campus.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Dec. 11 with a meeting of the Regents’ Executive Committee, to be followed by consecutive meetings of the Regents’ Finance & Audit, Academic and Student Affairs, and External Affairs committees. Each committee session will convene immediately following the completion of the previous session. All four sessions are scheduled to conclude prior to 4:15 p.m.

The Regents will re-convene at the same location at 8 a.m. on Friday to initially hear reports, including reports from the WSU Foundation, the WSU Faculty Senate, Associated Students of WSU Spokane, Graduate and Professional Student Association, WSU Administrative Professional Advisory Council, and WSU Alumni Association.

The Regents are expected to take action on recommendations including:

  • A recommendation to approve schematic design documents for the WSU Spokane Teaching Health Center (STHC) project, which will serve as the teaching health center for graduate medical education and provide primary health care services. The STHC supports the university’s goal to increase Graduate Medical Education admissions and create and foster interdepartmental and clinical faculty opportunities, which will enhance the Spokane Campus health science mission.
  • A recommendation to approve schematic design documents for the renovation of the third floor of the Washington Building on the Pullman campus to allow for the co-location of Student Health Services, Behavioral Health Services, and Counseling Services from the Lighty Student Services building. This relocation will allow for better coordination of care by delivering all of the Health and Wellness services from one location. The student-fee-funded renovation project is a priority for WSU and supports growing student enrollment as well as faculty and staff.
