PULLMAN, Wash. – Local children will join the Eugene Ballet to perform “The Nutcracker” ballet at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at Beasley Coliseum at Washington State University.
Tickets cost $14-$30 and are available at Beasley, TicketsWest outlets and the Festival Dance Academy Office in Moscow, Idaho.
Students from the academy will have roles as party children, baby mice, angels and flowers.
“This is one of our most popular attractions, especially for families,” said Abby Glanville, Festival Dance executive director.
The ballet, which is traditionally performed at Christmastime, tells the story of a young girl, Clara, who goes on an enchanted journey with a magical nutcracker after her family’s gala holiday party. She visits the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets where she is entertained by Spanish, Russian, Arabian and Chinese dancers.
The Eugene Ballet is one of the largest touring companies in the western United States. They will present “The Nutcracker” in five western states, including Alaska, and will perform the ballet over 25 times.
“We are so pleased to be able to give our students the opportunity to perform with professional dancers on the Beasley stage,” Glanville said. “It inspires their dance training.”
