Baseler-80PULLMAN, Wash. – Ted Baseler, Washington State University alumnus and a leader in the Washington wine industry for more than 25 years, has been reappointed to his second full term on the WSU Board of Regents. Gov. Jay Inslee today announced the appointment, which runs through Sept. 30, 2020.

“Ted serves Washington State University, his industry, his community and the state with distinction and foresight,” Inslee said. “I am proud to reappoint him to the governing board of the state’s land-grant research institution.”

WSU President Elson S. Floyd echoed that sentiment.

“Ted is a savvy leader with a deep knowledge and understanding of Washington State University and the state that it serves,” Floyd said. “I look forward to continuing to work with him to advance both the institution and the state of Washington.”

Baseler is president and CEO of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates – among the 10 largest wine companies in the United States – and continues to help build one of the top wine producing regions in the world. He has served as chairman of the Washington Wine Commission and of the Napa-based Wine Market Council and director of the Washington Wine Institute.

A strong advocate for WSU, he served on its Foundation Board of Trustees for 10 years. He has been recognized with the Alumni Achievement Award and the WSU Foundation Outstanding Service Award. He led efforts to develop a world class enology and viticulture program at WSU, working with the state legislature for funding.

He has been the driving force behind Chateau Ste. Michelle events that have raised more than $2 million for diversity scholarships. He has served on the Washington Business Roundtable and the boards of Children’s Hospital and Patrons of Northwest Arts.

Baseler was appointed to his first full regents term in 2009. He earned his bachelor’s degree at WSU and master’s degree from Northwestern University.
