Student news debuts live November election coverage

election-coverage-300PULLMAN, Wash. – Area residents will be able to watch live local election coverage beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, thanks to broadcast students with The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University.

The Murrow News 8 team will offer coverage both on local channel 8 and via live stream on the Internet at http://murrow.wsu.edu/murrownews8/index.html.

“This is an exciting opportunity for our students to experience how to cover a live election,” said Marvin Marcelo, faculty advisor for Cable 8 Productions. “Plus, it offers our viewers a chance to see local coverage of the races that matter most.”

“Our journalism students have been working hard all semester, and on election night they will be able to apply their editorial and journalistic skills to one of the most important news events of the year,” said Laura Dubowski, clinical assistant professor at the Murrow College.
