Nov. 5: Free training for volunteer weather spotters

weather-spotter-logoPULLMAN, Wash. – Volunteer weather monitor training will be offered free to the public 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, in CUE 518, co-sponsored by Washington State University Emergency Management. Parking is available in the CUE or Fine Arts garages for $3 after 5 pm.

The National Weather Service is looking for volunteers to become official Weather Spotters. Local weather reports by spotters coupled with radar, satellite and other data have enabled the weather service to issue more timely and accurate warnings for hazardous weather.

Training is tailored to the local area and includes thunderstorm development, severe thunderstorm structure, flash floods, high winds, winter storms and spotter procedures.
