PULLMAN, Wash. – Have you read a good book lately? Nominations are open through Nov. 7 for the 2015-16 common reading book at Washington State University Pullman. Employees, students, alumni and the community are welcome to submit books for consideration.

Books are used in first-year and other classes to stimulate learning and engagement. Topics from them have inspired presentations by research experts, film showings, service projects and field trips.

Information about books must be entered online at http://CommonReading.wsu.edu.

“Once we have a set of books we can recommend as good choices, we pass our list on to the provost who makes the final selection,” said Susan Poch, assistant vice provost and co-director of the common reading program.

This year’s online nomination process includes a few brief questions: Is this book available in paperback? Does the book connect to or highlight existing university research or activity? “What makes this book memorable and worthy of campus engagement?

The current common reading book is “Garbology: Our Dirty Love Affair with Trash,” by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Edward Humes.
