SPOKANE, Wash. – College students studying to become healthcare professionals are looking for 90 senior citizens to sign up to receive two hours of free healthcare screenings on Friday, Oct. 24, in the Spokane University District. The deadline to RSVP is Oct. 23.
Students will offer free flu vaccinations, oral cancer screenings, fall-prevention demonstrations, gait screenings, hearing tests, medication consultations, nutrition counseling and blood pressure checks.
Two-hour screenings begin at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. To sign up, call 509-919-3045 or visit http://bit.ly/senior-smile to sign up online.
Known as Senior Smile Day, the screenings will take place at the Eastern Washington University School of Dental Hygiene, 310 N. Riverpoint Blvd., and those students will be joined by Washington State University Health Sciences students from pharmacy, nursing, speech and hearing sciences, and nutrition and exercise physiology.
Parking passes will be given out to registered participants, and free Spokane Transit Authority passes are available for those who need transportation to campus.
