The Circle of Excellence Silver Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) recognizes the work of a committee of seven volunteers from institutions throughout CASE District VIII. Led by executive chair Teresa Koeppel, director of marketing and communication at the WSU Foundation, the committee promoted the 2014 CASE District VIII Conference, which was held in Vancouver, B.C., in February.

The committee’s efforts led to record-breaking attendance and a 150 percent increase in sponsorship support over the previous year. The promotion set the ground work for greater integrated district-wide marketing efforts beyond the conference.

“CASE is a volunteer-driven organization that helps us, as professionals, to advance our institutions and their impact,” said Koeppel. “It is an honor to serve our district and represent WSU.”

Koeppel-Teresa-80Koeppel earlier received the Rising Star Award in marketing and communications in CASE District VIII competition.

David Hoyt, art director for the WSU Foundation, served on the committee and developed the visual branding and design work for conference promotion. The award-winning conference materials were produced by University Communications at WSU.

Other committee members represented College of Idaho, Simon Fraser University, Oregon State University Foundation, University of Idaho and University of Washington.

CASE District V also won a silver for conference promotional efforts, the only other award this year in that category.

WSU communicators won two other international Circle of Excellence Awards, both gold (general news writing and professional and staff development). See https://news.wsu.edu/2014/06/24/wsu-communicators-win-two-top-awards-in-2014-case-competition/#.VCxViU10yfA.
