Sept. 25: Outdoor celebration marks 25 years of WSU Spokane

wsu-spokane-entry-250SPOKANE, Wash. – A community celebration marking the 25th anniversary of creation of the Washington State University Spokane campus will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, on the campus lawn, 600 N. Riverpoint Blvd. Student-led tours of campus will be conducted at 4 p.m.

Cost of attendance is $25 per person, with proceeds going to student scholarships.

Attendees must be age 21 or older. Wine and beer tasting will be available from Cougar-owned wineries and breweries.

WSU-Spokane-500WSU President Elson S. Floyd and WSU Spokane Chancellor Lisa J. Brown will speak during a short program. Butch T. Cougar will circulate through the crowd. Two tickets on Alaska Airlines will be given away.

WSU Spokane was one of five branch campuses authorized by the Washington Legislature in May 1989, three for WSU – Spokane, Vancouver and Tri-Cities – and two for the University of Washington – Tacoma and Bothell.

WSU Spokane is located on a 48-acre campus in the University District. It serves 1,400 students – the majority in health sciences programs.
