PULLMAN, Wash. – A tuba and euphonium concert will open the 2014-15 Faculty Artist Series at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, in Bryan Hall at Washington State University. Proceeds from the series benefit the School of Music scholarship fund.
Tickets will be available in the lobby 30 minutes before the concert. They are free to WSU students with ID. The cost is $10 general admission and $5 for non-WSU students and those age 60+.
“Song and Wind: A Recital of Music for Tuba and Euphonium” will feature WSU professor Chris Dickey, with University of Idaho professor Rajung Yang on piano.
Highlights of the program will be works by Walter Ross, Henri Duparc, Kenton Bales and Anthony Plog. Some original compositions will be released on Dickey’s debut solo album, “Just a Thought,” which will be available on the Albany Records label in the spring.
“Song and Wind” is the first of 16 performances in this year’s Faculty Artist Series, which began in 2006 as a showcase for music faculty with a direct benefit for students.
Also in September, the series will present jazz pianist Brian Ward, soprano Julie Wieck and the organ-trumpet duo Jill Schneider and David Turnbull. Complete information about the series can be found at http://libarts.wsu.edu/music/artistseries.htm.
