coug-gear-80SEATTLE – After 10 good years at Westlake Center, Washington State University‘s downtown Seattle retail store, Washington State Connections, has moved three blocks away to Rainier Square.

The new retail outlet for all things WSU, located at 411 Union St., will accommodate more merchandise and provide additional square footage to display the store’s inventory, which includes featured Washington wines, Cougar cheeses and unique gifts and apparel.

Cougar alumni and friends are invited to visit the store during its grand opening celebration 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 27 and 28. The event will feature free gifts and cheese tasting, discounted prices on adult hoodies and a chance to win a $100 gift certificate.

“We are extremely pleased and excited about our new Seattle location,” said Mel Taylor, WSU executive director of real estate. “Cougs will find this new store far more spacious, more interactive and better suited to receive and serve our alumni and friends on the west side.”

Relocation of WSU’s downtown Seattle store follows the recent opening of the university’s new Washington State Connections store in Everett. Located at 2809 Colby Ave., the Everett store was opened in May to provide WSU a downtown presence as it prepares to take over administration of the University Center of North Puget Sound next month.

Both Connections stores have been well-received on the west side of the state, attracting alumni, tourists, fans and prospective students. Card-carrying Cougar Alumni Association members receive a 10 percent discount at both Connections stores on all items except wine, cheese and sale goods.

Washington State Connections merchandise can also be purchased online at www.wsuconnections.com.
