Vote WSU’s Apple Cup Crisp best in the west, nation

Apple Cup Crisp ice creamPULLMAN, Wash. – It’s National Dairy Month and Apple Cup Crisp from Washington State University is in the running to be named Grand Champion of university-made ice cream. You can help Apple Cup Crisp take the lead in the national Progressive Dairyman 2014 Flavor Faceoff by voting here.

Apple Cup Crisp made from Ferdinand’s vanilla ice cream is laced with green and spiced apple flavorings, a swirl of caramel, and full of crispy chunks of oatmeal cookies. Its namesake comes from the annual Apple Cup football game between the WSU Cougars and the University of Washington Huskies. To commemorate the game and honor the Washington state apple, the WSU Creamery produces the ice cream flavor year-round. More than 12 universities submitted to the Flavor Faceoff this year and the regional finalists will be announced June 26.

“This month we celebrate the cow and her industry,” said Larry Fox, advisor for the WSU Dairy Club, who encourages ice cream aficionados to celebrate the dairy industry and vote for Apple Cup Crisp.

The winner of the Flavor Faceoff is featured in Progressive Dairyman magazine. In 2012, WSU was featured when the WSU Creamery’s huckleberry ice cream won the national competition.

Apple Cup Crisp was also featured as the Washington State ice cream of choice in Food Network’s 50 States, 50 Ice Cream Treats last summer. http://www.foodnetwork.com/grilling/50-states-50-ice-cream-treats.html
