PULLMAN, Wash. – The College of Business recently honored its outstanding faculty, staff and graduate students during an annual awards event in the Todd Hall Atrium at Washington State University Pullman.
Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award: Richie Liu, Department of Marketing and International Business, creates in-depth learning experiences for his students and maintains the Behavioral Research Laboratory. He consistently receives high evaluations from students.
Outstanding Graduate Student Research Award: Brett Josephson, Department of Marketing and International Business, and Jeongdoo Park, School of Hospitality Business Management. Josephson has several papers pending publication in top tier journals.
His research focusing on government contracts is among the only academic studies investigating government relationships from an economic and marketing perspective and providing managers with a useful tool when deciding on their firm’s strategic outlook.
Park has published six papers, five in top tier publications.
He is the leading author on most of his publications and is recognized by peers and faculty for his research potential.
Outstanding Staff Service Award: Jamie Callison, executive chef and culinary instructor in the School of Hospitality Business Management, displayed vision and creativity in publishing “The Crimson Spoon: Plating Regional Cuisine on the Palouse” cookbook.
He maintains a positive attitude and is dedicated and committed to helping students.
Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award: Arvin Sahaym, associate professor in the Department of Management, Information Systems and Entrepreneurship, is Ph.D. program coordinator for the management area, co-advisor for the management club, has served on multiple department and college-level curriculum committees, and has chaired and/or mentored more than a dozen Ph.D. students in his seven years at WSU.
Outstanding Faculty Research Award: David Sprott, associate dean for graduate, international and professional programs, balances substantial administrative responsibilities with research. In the past year, he has published multiple top tier marketing journal articles.
Outstanding Faculty Service Award: David Whidbee, interim dean, led the college’s recent, successful reaccreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB). The business and accounting program accreditation was extended for five years for all degree levels.
Outstanding Clinical or Non-Tenure Track Faculty Award: David Knuff, director of the Pullman MBA program and assistant clinical professor of marketing in the Department of Marketing and International Business, consistently receives outstanding teaching evaluations while also holding his 500 students per semester to a high standard.
Students appreciate his approachability, effective use of modern instructional techniques and years of real-world experience that directly relates to the courses he teaches.
Dean’s Excellence Fellows: This award recognizes outstanding performance by faculty in teaching, research and service.
