May 29: Free workshop in preparation for fire season

wildfire-by-bugwood.org-2j00EVERETT, Wash. – With wildfire season approaching, woodland owners can get help to protect their property and assess risk at a free Firewise Workshop 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at the Camano Multipurpose Center (the blue building), 141 NE Camano Dr., Camano Island, 15 minutes from the I-5 Stanwood/Camano exit. 

Pre-registration is required. Space is limited and is first come, first served. Registration information is available at http://forestry.wsu.edu/nps/events/firewise/ or by contacting Lauren Grand, Washington State University Extension Forestry Program, at 425-357-6023.

The workshop, hosted by WSU Extension, will teach woodland owners ways to increase the survivability of their family, home and property in case of wildfire. They will learn to assess the fire risk on their property, utilize firewise construction and landscaping methods and obtain the support needed to protect home and property.

The workshop will include a Q&A session with a firewise landowner, a presentation from the Snohomish Conservation District about how to become a Firewise Community and a USB drive loaded with ready-made tools to get started.
