WSU Nutrition prof. named state’s Outstanding Dietitian of the Year

SPOKANE – A Washington State University professor has been named the Outstanding Dietitian of the Year for 2014 by the Washington State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Janet K. Beary received the award at the organization’s recent annual meeting in Spokane. She is a registered dietitian, director of WSU’s Coordinated Program in Dietetics, Nutrition and Exercise Physiology, and she holds a Ph.D. in public health from Oregon State University.

The award is the highest honor given by the organization and recognizes leadership, ability and service. In 2011, Beary received the academy’s Spokane Women’s Faculty Leadership Award and in 2007 she was given the President’s Award for Leadership.

Beary is a clinical assistant professor in the Nutrition and Exercise Physiology Program in the College of Pharmacy at the WSU health sciences campus in Spokane.
