Red Orbit – Using fish bred at Washington State University, an international team of researchers has mapped the genetic profile of the rainbow trout, a versatile salmonid whose relatively recent genetic history opens a window into how vertebrates evolve.

The Spokesman-Review – Washington State University Spokane Chancellor Lisa Brown told the panel that a second publicly funded medical school is coming in the next 10 to 20 years, and “I believe it should be in Spokane.”

Lake Stevens Journal – Whether a dog is a Labrador, beagle or poodle, the scent-detection ability of its nose outdoes any artificial detectors, said Washington State University veterinarian Leticia Fanucchi, who researches the dog’s olfactory system as it relates to canine behavior.

Science Codex – “There are those tiny, little instances of spite that probably happen on a day-to-day basis,” said David Marcus, a Washington State University professor of psychology. “There were actually some researchers who did some parking lot research a while back and found people take longer leaving a space when they see someone waiting for the spot.”
