Northside hall earns LEED sustainable certification

Northside-80PULLMAN, Wash. – Phase 1 of Northside residence hall at WSU has received LEED silver certification.

To help the construction industry define green, or sustainable, building, the U.S. Green Building Council devised a scoring method to rate how green buildings are. That rating system, called Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), is the industry standard for defining voluntary guidelines for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.

WSU regents recently approved design documents for Northside hall Phase 2, to be located on Colorado Street just east of the women’s soccer field. Construction will begin this spring and be complete for fall 2015.
