April 18: Concert explores Beethoven’s magic with key

Savage180PULLMAN, Wash. – Beethoven’s choice of key and the way he established the key center of a work will be the focus of a recital of sonatas at 8 p.m. Friday, April 18, in Kimbrough Hall at Washington State University. It is part of the Faculty Artist Series; proceeds benefit the School of Music scholarship fund.

Tickets will be available in the lobby 30 minutes before the concert. They are free to WSU students with ID. They cost $10 general admission and $5 for non-WSU students and those age 60+.

The piano performance by WSU faculty Jeffrey Savage will demonstrate the varied approaches that Beethoven used as well as the magical ways a great composer can play with a simple element of music.

Savage is scheduled to continue his exploration of the Beethoven sonatas for the 2014-15 Faculty Artist Series. Information about next year’s series will be put online during the summer at http://libarts.wsu.edu/music/artistseries.htm
