PULLMAN, Wash. – News media are invited to attend Washington State University’s official announcement of the new Center for Transformational Learning and Leadership (CTLL). A news conference will be 9-9:30 a.m. Friday, March 28, at the WSU Ensminger Pavilion, 455 Lincoln Dr., Pullman.
The CTLL, developed by the College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS), provides students with beyond-the-classroom learning opportunities including leadership training, internships, international study experiences, undergraduate research, tutoring and mentoring. The aim is to give students the extra edge needed in today’s competitive job market.
“The Center for Transformational Learning and Leadership will serve as a hub for activities aimed at enriching the student experience at WSU,” said Daniel J. Bernardo, WSU interim provost and executive vice president. “By catalyzing numerous out-of-class activities, the CTLL will have a profound effect on our ability to develop students who are job ready, day one.”
The CTLL offers programs and services that benefit all WSU students, faculty, staff, alumni and industry partners.
The announcement will be made in the presence of CAHNRS’ National Board of Advisors and student beneficiaries and will include brief statements from:
* Ron Mittelhammer, interim dean of CAHNRS
* Kim Kidwell, newly appointed director of the CTLL and executive associate dean of CAHNRS academic programs
* William Nelson, vice president of corporate citizenship and president of CHS Foundation at CHS, a diversified global energy, grains and food business
* Sherry Johnson, corporate social responsibility manager at CoBank, a national cooperative bank serving agriculture and other industries.
CHS Foundation and CoBank made generous donations to launch the center.
