March 26: Top WSU chef offers free interactive webinar

PULLMAN, Wash.—He’s the executive chef at Washington State University’s School of Hospitality Business Management, has taught thousands of students to cook, and has just published his own cookbook.

WSU chef Jamie Callison (2)At 6:30 p.m. March 26, Jamie Callison is offering the public a free virtual visit to a WSU teaching kitchen.  You’ll be able to watch live-stream video of him and his students preparing three dishes: Cougar Gold Mac N’ Cheese, WSU Wagyu Beef Pot Roast, and Crimson Fire Jalapeno Poppers. And you can use the chat box to ask him questions.

“My goal is to showcase local WSU products,” said Callison, “and share the WSU educational experience with the public.” See a video preview on YouTube.

All three recipes are from Callison’s new cookbook, “The Crimson Spoon: Plating Regional Cuisine on the Palouse,” which was a finalist in 2014 International Association of Culinary Professionals awards. The book focuses on regional resources, and foods produced by WSU departments.

Callison’s online workshop is sponsored by Global Connections, part of WSU’s Global Campus’ efforts to bring extracurricular activities to online students, and offered to the public through the WSU Digital Academy.
