March 13: Panel discusses ethics of animal experimentation

mouse-80PULLMAN, Wash. – The ethics of using animals in scientific experimentation will be discussed by a panel at 4-5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 13, in 305 Bryan Hall at Washington State University. It is part of the WSU Foley Institute’s Science, Ethics and Public Policy Series and is co-sponsored by the School of Politics, Philosophy and Public Affairs.

The panel will consider animal cognition, ethical principles and current practices.

Panel members are: Gary Varner, professor and head of philosophy at Texas A&M University; Steven Russell, director of the Office of the Campus Veterinarian at WSU; and Sylvie Cloutier, research assistant professor in integrated physiology and neuroscience and the Center for the Study of Animal Well-being at WSU.
