Feb. 27: Tar sands walk, environmental issues discussed

tar-sands-walk-80PULLMAN, Wash. – Six community members who participated in the “2013 Tar Sands Healing Walk” in Alberta, Canada last summer will make a free, public presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, in CUE 202. Audience discussion will follow.

Issues and questions about tar sands mining, crude oil processing, climate change, megaload transportation, pipeline projects, and cultural and environmental changes will be considered.

The presentation is hosted by the Associated Students of Washington State University Environmental Sustainability Alliance and WSU Environmental Science Club.

Walkers are James Blakely, Pat Fuerst, Pat and Dan Rathmann, Anne Remaley and Helen Yost.

The event is supported by the Palouse Environmental Sustainability Coalition, Wild Idaho Rising Tide, Idaho Sierra Club and 350 Boise.
