Tabyshalieva is a professor of history at Marshall University and a consultant for the World Bank, UNESCO and the United Nations Development Fund for Women. She has won many awards, including the UNESCO medal for her participation in its “History of Civilizations of Central Asia” project and a certificate of honor from the president of Kyrgyzstan for her work promoting women’s rights.
