PULLMAN, Wash. – Following more than 20 feedback sessions with faculty and staff, a revised draft of Washington State University’s strategic plan for the next five years is available at http://strategicplan.wsu.edu/2014/draft.html.

“The feedback we have received from every group we’ve met with has been thoughtful and informed and has been incorporated into the new draft,” said Vice Provost Erica Austin. “I appreciate the hard work our faculty and staff committee did to provide the excellent first draft, which has been well received and has invited further discussion and refinement.”

Austin and Interim Provost Daniel J. Bernardo have met with more than 20 different groups of faculty and staff from both academic colleges and administrative units. Another 10 are either scheduled or pending, including those at WSU’s urban campuses at Spokane, Tri-Cities and Vancouver.

As a result of the feedback sessions, the revised draft plan focuses more clearly on developing a transformational undergraduate experience and pursuit of an AAU-caliber (Association of American Universities) research portfolio. It gives greater attention to WSU’s land-grant mission.

It also incorporates an implementation plan and 51 quantitative metrics to gauge progress.

“This next round of feedback on the revised plan will dramatically shape the final product,” said Bernardo. “I encourage every member of the Cougar family to take the time to review the new draft and provide comments.”

He said a final version of the strategic plan will be ready for approval by the WSU Board of Regents by mid-April.
